Earlier this month, we celebrated National Author’s Day. In that regard, the Firm would like to recognize its author, Jeff Rehmeyer. Jeff is the past president of the Firm and has served in management for decades.

Jeff has assisted clients with estate planning since he entered the practice of law, as many would seek his counsel on these important, personal matters. As time has progressed, Jeff has facilitated an increasing amount of estate planning and administration for his clients, seeking to help them protect their loved ones and assets. Jeff’s business experience and superior client service allow him to understand client concerns and to help alleviate them.

In 2024, Jeff published a book entitled The S.M.A.R.T Estate Plan – Protecting You and Your Family. Here is an excerpt from the front of the book…

All of us want to protect the ones we love. All of us want to be able to help our family, should the need arise. All of us will need help at some point in the future.

Many people fail to plan. The sad truth is most adults have not done the proper planning, either recently, or at all. The stumbling block for many is that they hesitate, sometimes out of fear, and other times because they’re unsure of making a wrong choice.

Just know that estate planning does not need to bind you for years to come and can be updated at any time. It is far better to make one less than optimum choice. but have an overall plan in place, than to leave your loved ones scrambling when it’s too late.

So read on to understand the questions to be asked, the answers that must be provided, the documents to be completed, and other important information that will enable you to protect your family, and yourself, for years to come.
